about

Originally composed in 2017, Im pleased to have re-sculpted the mix, and have it digitally mastered, and archived here on the LumiPhon Studios page. A very Special thanks to Raffaele Pezzella (Synolgyst) for the skillful mastering, and to Stefan Schmidt for the cover art!

Window songs explores feelings of isolation while contemplating the common wood and glass construction we recognize as a window; a peering medium from one world to another. Its a barrier where you can view the world on the other side but cannot touch it. Window songs is really a meditation, attempting to communicate through an invisible barrier with a language of vibrations.

Window songs was composed using an a440 tuning fork along with other random objects used to tap, scrape and generate friction on a glass window. Recorded with a single ribbon microphone and a contact mic (placed on the window's surface), the original recordings were then sculpted with various methods and experimentation with both digital means and tape recording/rerecording, splicing, reversing and varying speeds.
